Liberty Gardens

All over Hampton Roads Liberty Gardens have been growing in special honor to the memory of those who perished in the events surrounding September 11, 2001.

Keep America Beautiful, Inc. created Liberty Gardens, a living tribute to honor those who perished in the events surrounding September 11, 2001. More than 540 affiliated organizations nationwide and millions of volunteers where encouraged to "act locally and plant patriotically." Soon various gardens, pathways, and beautification spots were developed as part of the Liberty Garden program. Today, there are over 1,000 Liberty Gardens throughout the United States and here in Hampton Roads, 8 gardens have been established.
